Trick or Treat

TREAT! It was a fun time tonight being with the toddlers going door to door. They say and do the funniest things. JJ was in his chili pepper costume along with his friends Ellie Grace (Tinkerbell), Hattie (catapillar), Luke (pirate), and Anna May (ladybug). Robert was sad to miss JJ's first Halloween because he is in Arkansas working but we are grateful for his job. Next year will be more fun anyway!
The engineer came yesterday to the house and said we did not need any pier work done. I could not believe it but it was great news! We will have the cost of a new roof since there are 3 layers on the house now. I never knew about the layered roof and this was not found when I bought the house. The buyers insurance will not insure the roof like that. But paying for a new roof is better than paying for a new roof AND piers!!
Robert talked to his manager in Conway today and we are waiting for feedback from him before we make a decision about the house. Progress on both ends!! It is hard to believe that tomorrow is November 1st. Time is flying by. I am looking forward to the holiday season.

Crazy week

The past week has been a whirlwind. JJ and I had good flights to Little Rock last Wednesday to meet Robet for house shopping. We saw many houses Wedneday and Thursday and narrowed it down to our top two by the time we left. (pictures available on our picture site) We are now just waiting on confirmation from Robert's boss before making an offer. It is very exciting and weird to imagine living anywhere else than here on 48th street. It is a huge upgrade from where we are now and provides much of what we have been missing living here (two toilets in particular!). I really like our realtor and she is a big help.
Upon returning from Conway Thursday at midnight, we spent the night in OKC and left the next day for Midland to visit Robert's grandmother Frances. We spent Friday night in Lubbock at some friends' house and then onto Midland. Frances was diagnosed with congestive heart failure three years ago and started losing the battle this past month. She had requested to see JJ recently and we were grateful to get a visit in to see her as she passed away this morning. She was so special to her family and very loved. Robert's aunt Freda was by her side when she went at the hospital in hospice care.
It was a long trip back Sunday. JJ was more restless but it was also his fifth day of travel and the car seat was getting old. We were able to stop in Ft. Worth to see my cousin Chris and his wife Shelley for dinner. Then a quick stop at Robert's uncle's houses (Frances's son) Scott.
While we were in Arkansas there was an inspection on the house. They addressed the settling issues and we called a structural engineer to come inspect. The buyers, both realtors, and we were all here waiting on the engineer who didn't show. We rescheduled with a different guy for today. Everyone is anxious to get this under way so they can get in and we can get out! That is the update for now. Here is the link I promised to see pictures of our house: http://www.openhouseok.com/wc.wwt?ohok~showhome~&city=oklahoma+city&address=621+NW+48th&st=ok . I never had a chance to blog while away even though I had the laptop with me. It was a fast moving visit from one place to the next but time well spent as a family and visiting loved ones.

SOLD!!!

We sold the house today. We accepted their second offer and the ball is rolling for everything else. They want to be moved in by Thanksgiving (Nov 18th). I'm flying with JJ Wednesday to Little Rock and we'll all drive home Thursday. This is all unchartered territory for me (moving, relocating) so I plan to take it one day at a time. We also went to the doctor and it has been decided he has allergies that are causing the congestion. He started taking some Claritin and is already doing much better. That will make for a better trip to Arkansas.

Sell that house!!!

This is amazing! We got an offer on the house! It has been on the market since Thursday afternoon and here Sunday night we got an offer. One couple came and looked at it Friday and one on Saturday. This offer came from the Saturday couple. (I had surveillance on the house during the viewing to know the second showing was a couple with a baby :)) We had to counter, etc. but the ball is rolling. They want to close before Thanksgiving. It is really weird to think I wouldn't be living here in three weeks time. 621 NW 48th....my first house, first house with my husband, first JJ memories, and five full years of living. But to everything a door opens and a door closes. I had a fortune cookie from Pei-Wei last week and said, 'Look forward to a great fortune and a new lease on life'. It's so funny when things like that fit your life. JJ and I went on a walk today (2 miles) and it has been hard for Robert and I to move past QuikDROP. There is much regret by both of us for taking on that endeavor. That is why it is so symbolic to move to Conway and get a fresh start. The main thing is that losses caused by QuikDROP are all losses in the world's eyes and yet we have so much to be thankful for in the way of God's blessings. When you look at it that way it's not so bad. I'll keep you posted on the offer and JJ's doctor's visit tomorrow.

It's official!

There is a sign in our front yard that says "FOR SALE". It is so exciting to finally have it on the market. It has only been 24 hours and we already had a showing! I had my neighbors (spies) check out the lookers - a young couple. No word yet on an offer; I don't expect one. But it is still encouraging. The picture guy came to photograph the inside for the website but said they would not be up until Monday. I'll post the website then because I am at my dad's house and don't know it. I think it would be fun to set up a hidden camera to film the next showing. I'll have to see if there is any good hiding places for it. You can't hide anything in there anymore because it is so clean! I am traveling to Arkansas next Tuesday so Robert and I can look at houses Wednesday. Things are really moving now. It's weird. JJ is doing well. Still has the dang cough. I hope it is not something more serious. We will go back to the doctor if it is not better by Monday. See you soon.

Almost there!

The countdown is on! We are supposed to list the house tomorrow but it could be Thursday. Either way it is in reach. The house looks so great. It is not practical or fun to live in but...looks great! It's like living in the pages of a Pottery Barn catalog or something. Everything put in its place, clean, no clutter; you don't see remote controls, trash cans, empty soda cans, pacifiers, etc. lying around. I think it will sell quick. I'll add the link when it is official so you can see this once in a lifetime site! So, that is all we have been doing. JJ still has his cough. Last Friday the doctor said he had an ear infection but he has none of the symptoms so I was shocked. He doesn't seem any better after being on antibiotics since Friday. He is still in good spirits. It's hard to keep a good little man down!! Robert is here this week commuting to Tulsa for oil classes. He goes back to AR Friday. That is all for now. Check back soon.

Change is coming

Robert got home today from AR. He has grown a beard at my request. I just wanted to see what it would look like. Some men would envy him because not all men can grow one. While he is home we are REALLY going to finish up work on the house. I believe by next week we should have a sign out front. Our neighbor has every halloween decoration known to man in his front yard so that is not going to help. We are going to look at houses in AR in a couple of weeks. JJ and I have been truckin' along all week. Today I found evidence of bottom teeth coming in! I can tell he is real close to crawling too! I just love him more and more each day. Ever since we've been home from Colorado we have walked or jogged each day. It feels real good to get out in the fresh air and move. JJ really enjoys it too. In closing, I recently put a counter on the blog and was shocked to see how many people have visited. I know my aunts and cousin Erin check the blog regularly but who else is out there reading it? Please post a comment or send me an email. Here I thought I had a limited audience. I would love to know who reads this stuff. We'll post pics soon.

Back home

We are home now from a long 9 days away. Our time in Colorado was very nice. The aspen trees were beautiful - bright yellow. You will have to check out the picture site to see all the photos from our trip. The best part of the trip was being with family and seeing the beauty of the mountains. Some things we did were: fishing (I caught two rainbow trout), rafting down the Taylor/Gunnison river, eating out, walks in the neighborhood, and scenic drives. I am glad to be back home. The dry air was hard on my throat and JJ did not sleep well while away. He was very spoiled by his grandparents being held in loving arms much of the time. Reality is slowing setting in as I get caught up on daily chores and JJ sits/stands in his exersaucer. Robert is on jury duty this week even though he is supposed to report to work on Tuesday night. It will be nice to have him home this week and have him join us at Bible study Thursday night.
